San Antonio photographer Jim Zintgraff with archaeologist Solveig Turpin present the 4,000 to 8,000-year-old Indian paintings found in rock shelters north of Del Rio in Val Verde County; culminating nearly 40 years of research.He developed a special system, using reflected light, to capture the complex polychrome paintings for which this region is justly famous. In 1986, the Witte Museum in San Antonio opened a permanent exhibit of his finest prints. Dr. Turpin has devoted the majority of her career to tracking Native American rock art.
